Item 8.01. Other Events.
On September 6, 2011, Pharmasset, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing sustained virologic response (SVR) results from its Phase 2b PROTON study with PSI-7977 400 mg dosed once daily in combination with peginterferon alfa 2a and ribavirin (Peg-IFN/RBV) in subjects with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 who have not been treated previously. The full text of the press release issued in connection with the announcement is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference into this Current Report on Form 8-K.
