Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
On November 14, 2013, StemCells, Inc. (the "Company") announced the appointment of Gregory Schiffman as its Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance, effective January 1, 2014. In his new role, Mr. Schiffman will be responsible for all aspects of the Company's financing activities, financial reporting and controls, corporate communications, and investor relations.
Also announced and by agreement reached on November 13, 2013, Mr. Schiffman will succeed Rodney Young, who will be leaving the Company effective December 31, 2013, to pursue other opportunities.
A copy of the press release announcing the appointment of Mr. Schiffman is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
