SEMI-ANNUAL DIVIDEND


BLACKSBURG, VA, NOVEMBER 14, 2012:  The Board of Directors of National Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ Capital Market: NKSH) today approved payment on December 3, 2012 of a semi-annual dividend of $0.57 per share to all stockholders of record as of November 23, 2012. The dividend is 9.6% higher than the semi-annual dividend that was paid on December 1, 2011.

James G. Rakes, Chairman, President & CEO said, “Based on our solid financial performance, we are pleased to provide our stockholders with another semi-annual cash dividend.”
