Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers
On December 17, 2018, Jeff M. Fettig notified the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Whirlpool Corporation (the “Company”) that he will retire as Executive Chairman of the Board and as a director of the Company, effective as of December 31, 2018.
Also on December 17, 2018, the Board appointed Marc R. Bitzer, the Company's current Chief Executive Officer, to serve as Chairman of the Board, effective as of January 1, 2019.

The Company issued a press release announcing the transition, a copy of which is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this Form 8-K.
