ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS
Resolute Forest Products Inc. has been informed that the investigation by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), the securities regulatory authority in the Province of Quebec, of Resolute has been closed. The investigation concerned the possibility of non-compliance with applicable securities laws and regulations relating to takeover bids and the possibility of illegal insider trading and/or tipping (not involving any personal trading by individuals) in connection with the company’s December 15, 2011 takeover offer for shares of Fibrek Inc.
