Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (“Bank”) Director Richard A. Heldebrant has informed the Bank that he plans to resign from the Bank's board, effective December 31, 2017.

On November 30, 2017, the board of directors of the Bank selected Jeffrey K. Ball to fill this seat on the board, effective January 1, 2018. Mr. Ball is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Friendly Hills Bank, Whittier, California. Mr. Ball will complete the term of Mr. Heldebrant, which ends December 31, 2020. The Bank's board usually appoints directors to its committees in January each year. In accordance with Federal Housing Finance Agency regulations, compensation for service on the Bank's board for this director will be subject to the Bank's annual Director Compensation and Expense Reimbursement Policy.

The Bank issued a press release announcing this change on the Bank's board. The press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this report.
