Item 8.01  Other Events.

 

On October 27, 2017, Cathay General Bancorp issued a press release announcing the completion of its previously announced bank merger between Far East National Bank and Cathay Bank. With the completion of the merger, Far East National Bank, a national bank, was merged with and into Cathay Bank, a California state-chartered bank, with Cathay Bank as the surviving entity. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
