Item 8.01. Other Events.
On October 11, 2017, Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (the "Company") issued a press release announcing that Kevin G. Keyes, the Company's Chief Executive Officer and President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Company (the "Board"), has been appointed as Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2018, and that Wellington J. Denahan, presently the Company's Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, will retire from those positions, effective December 31, 2017, but remain as a member of the Board. Jonathan D. Green will continue to serve as the Company's Lead Independent Director following this transition.
