Item 8.01    Other Events

On April 26, 2017, Independent Bank Corp. (“Independent”) and Island Bancorp, Inc. (“Island Bancorp”) issued a joint press release reporting the following in connection with the previously announced merger of Island Bancorp with and into Independent:

All regulatory approvals relating to the merger have been received.
The deadline for Island Bancorp shareholders to elect the form of merger consideration they wish to receive in connection with the merger is 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time on May 5, 2017.
The merger is anticipated to close on or about May 12, 2017.

A copy of the news release is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference herein.

The transaction remains subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
