Item 8.01 Other Events—JPMorgan China Region Fund, Inc. Suspension of Potential Merger Negotiations

On September 20, 2016, JPMorgan China Region Fund, Inc. (the “Fund”) issued a press release announcing that, following discussions between its Board and the Board of Korea Equity Fund, Inc., the Boards had mutually agreed to suspend discussions announced on July 19, 2016 concerning a potential merger. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated by reference.
