Embassy Bancorp, Inc. is saddened to report that Co-Founder and Lead Director Elmer D. Gates passed away on December 14, 2015.  Mr. Gates served as a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Embassy Bancorp, Inc. from its formation in 2008, and also of the Board of Directors of its primary operating subsidiary, Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley, since its founding in 2001, until June 2009, at which time he was appointed Lead Director. 

A retired Fuller Company executive and long-time resident of the Lehigh Valley, Mr. Gates participated on the boards of such organizations as Skills USA Council, where he was Director Emeritus, Lehigh Valley Partnership, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, a DeSales University Trustee,  and the U.S. Export-Import Bank Advisory Committee.  In 2012, he was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Executive Hall of Fame. 

Embassy Bancorp, Inc. benefited greatly from the unique insight and guidance offered by Mr. Gates, acquired through his vast business experience and intimate knowledge of the Lehigh Valley business community.
