Item 8.01 Other Events.
On May 30, 2014, the registrant, Kemper Corporation (the "Company"), issued a press release announcing that the Company estimates second quarter 2014 earnings will include pre-tax catastrophe losses in the range of $40 million to $50 million for the months of April and May. The press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and incorporated herein by reference.
