Item 8.01. Other Events.
On December 10, 2013, Registrant’s subsidiary, First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company (FCB), issued the attached news release, regarding the status of the proposed merger of Hendersonville, N.C.-based 1st Financial Services Corporation (1st Financial) and its bank subsidiary, Mountain 1st Bank & Trust Company, into FCB.
The news release, which was jointly issued by FCB and 1st Financial, is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Report.
