(b) On July 30, 2013, Carol A. Surface notified Best Buy Co., Inc. (the “Company” or “registrant”) that she would resign as the registrant's Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer to pursue another opportunity. Effective August 2, 2013, Ms. Shari L. Ballard has been appointed to replace Ms. Surface as Chief Human Resources Officer, in addition to her current role of Executive Vice President and President, International. Ms. Ballard is a 20-year veteran of Best Buy with deep experience across the Company and significant expertise linking strategy, organizational design and development, and human capital. Her appointment reflects the importance of these elements in the Company's Renew Blue strategy. Ms. Surface will remain employed with the Company for a brief period to be determined in order assist in an orderly transition.
