Vantage Drilling Company (the “Company”) disclosed today that it has recently entered into a construction contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (“DSME”) for the construction of a new drillship to be called the Cobalt Explorer, which is expected to be delivered in 2015. The Cobalt Explorer will have a water depth rating of 12,000 feet, will be equipped to drill in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and will have a drilling depth capacity of 40,000 feet. Construction of the Cobalt Explorer will commence upon the payment by the Company to DSME of an initial payment of $59.5 million.
