Annaly Capital Management Announces Management Changes

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 10, 2012--Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NYSE: NLY) (“Annaly” or the “Company”) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Wellington Denahan-Norris Co-CEO in order to allow Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael A.J. Farrell to focus on his ongoing treatment for cancer.

“Since Mike and I co-founded Annaly, we have always shared responsibility for managing the Company,” said Ms. Denahan-Norris, Annaly’s Vice Chairman. “At this time, Mike has decided to devote all his time and energy to his treatment. We respect his decision, and will continue to support him.”

In addition, Annaly’s Board has appointed long-time senior executives Kevin G. Keyes and James P. Fortescue as the Company’s President and Chief Operating Officer, respectively.

Annaly manages assets on behalf of institutional and individual investors worldwide. The Company’s principal business objective is to generate net income for distribution to investors from its investment securities and from dividends it receives from its subsidiaries.
