Item 8.01 Other Events.
On October 4, 2012, StemCells, Inc. (the "Company") issued a press release announcing enrollment of the first patient in its Phase I/II clinical study in dry age-related macular degeneration ("AMD"). The patient's more severely impacted eye was transplanted with the Company's proprietary HuCNS-SC cells (purified human neural stem cells) on October 3 at the Retina Foundation of the Southwest in Dallas, Texas.
A copy of this press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
