ITEM 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
On August 20, 2012, Timothy L. Benton, one of the named executive officers of GMX Resources Inc. (the "Company") for purposes of this Item 5.02, provided notice of resignation, effective August 21, 2012, from his position as the Company's Executive Vice President - Geosciences, upon accepting a new role in the industry. Mr. Benton's responsibilities will be absorbed by our current managers and staff of petroleum engineers and geoscientists in Operations and Geosciences.
