(d) Appointment of New Director
As previously disclosed in the Current Report on Form 8-K filed on August 6, 2012 by Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (the “Company”), the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) appointed L. Patrick Hassey to serve as a member of the Board effective August 1, 2012. On August 15, 2012, the Board appointed Mr. Hassey as a member of its Audit Committee and its Compensation Committee.
