ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS. AD HOC COMMITTEE GRANTS THE COMPANY A TEN-DAY EXTENSION On June 18, 2012, Commerce Group Corp. (the "Company") and San Sebastian Gold Mines, Inc., an affiliate which is 82 1/2% owned by the Company, submitted a request for additional time to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes ("ICSID") to pay the $150,000 advance deposit requested by ICSID to cover the cost of the hearing on the Application for Annulment. On June 21, 2012, the Government of El Salvador ("GOES") objected to the request. Both the request and objection were forwarded to the annulment committee and can be viewed on the Company's website (www.commercegroupcorp.com). On July 10, 2012, the Secretary-General of ICSID informed the Company via e-mail that after due deliberation, the ad hoc Committee has decided to grant a one-time extension of ten days. Accordingly, the Company must pay the outstanding advance payment of $150,000 by Friday, July 20, 2012 to avoid discontinuance of the proceeding. For additional information about the Company's claims against the Government of El Salvador, reference is made to the Company's 8-Ks that were filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 18, 2009, July 2, 2009, July 2, 2010, August 19, 2010, September 17, 2010, March 15, 2011, July 14, 2011, November 21, 2011, December 20, 2011 and June 22, 2012.
