On March 8, 2012, James E. Oesterreicher notified HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (the “Company”) that, due to family health issues, he will not stand for reelection to the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) at the Company’s 2012 Annual Meeting of Stockholders on May 23, 2012 (the “Annual Meeting’). Mr. Oesterreicher currently serves on the Board’s Compensation Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and will continue to serve until the date of the Annual Meeting. The Board and the Company thank Mr. Oesterreicher for his service to the Company.
