On January 3, 2012, Smithfield Foods, Inc. (the “Company”) announced the retirement of Jerry Godwin, 65, President of Murphy-Brown LLC, a subsidiary of the Company, effective July 31, 2012. Robert W. Manly, IV, current Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will assume the additional role as President of Murphy-Brown upon Mr. Godwin's retirement. Prior to being named Executive Vice President of the Company in August 2006, Mr. Manly, 58, served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Premium Standard Farms.
