Item 5.02  Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.


(b) On December 16, 2011, Armando J. Olivera, President and Chief Executive Officer of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), notified the Board of Directors of NextEra Energy, Inc. and of FPL of his decision to retire from FPL effective May 2, 2012. To facilitate an orderly succession, Eric E. Silagy, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Regulatory and State Governmental Affairs, of FPL, was appointed as FPL's President, effective December 16, 2011. Mr. Olivera will continue to serve as FPL's Chief Executive Officer until his retirement.
