On December 16, 2011, Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that it has retained Lazard to assist in exploring strategic options to enhance stockholder value, including a possible sale or disposition of one or more corporate assets, a strategic business combination, partnership or other transactions. The press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 hereto, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
