Item 8.01 Other Events

On October 14, 2011, Mine Safety Appliances Company (“MSA”) completed the sale of its Paraclete ® ballistic vest business to Protective Products Enterprises, Inc. of Sunrise, Florida. The transaction did not include MSA’s ballistic helmets business. Terms of the deal are not being disclosed. A proposed transaction was previously reported in a Form 8-K filed on August 31, 2011.
