Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
(b) On September 1, 2011, Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Inc. (the Company) announced that Senior Vice President and Chief Utility Operations Officer, Michael H. Yount, plans to retire from the Company in early 2012. Mr. Yount’s areas of responsibility include the Company’s transmission, distribution and utility operations, engineering functions, and pipeline integrity and compliance programs. While a successor has not yet been named for Mr. Yount, the Company has initiated a search process to review candidates for the position. Mr. Yount will be assisting the Company in the search process and will also help with the transition effort once a successor has been named.
