(e) On June 13, 2011, the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. approved an increase in the annual base salary of Philip J. Cavatoni, the Company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, to $425,000.
