AÉROPOSTALE REPORTS DECEMBER SALES RESULTS;
SAME STORE SALES DECREASE 5%; REITERATES PREVIOUSLY ISSUED FOURTH QUARTER GUIDANCE


New York, New York – January 6, 2011 - Aéropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that total net sales for the five-week period ended January 1, 2011 increased 3% to $474.7 million, from $460.8 million for the five-week period ended January 2, 2010. The Company’s same store sales decreased 5% for the month, compared to a same store sales increase of 10% in the year ago period.

Year to date, total net sales have increased 8% to $2.280 billion, from $2.118 billion in the year ago period. Year to date, same store sales have increased 1%, compared to a same store sales increase of 10% last year.

The Company stated that it executed its promotional plan throughout the month, while navigating through a highly competitive Holiday selling season. Accordingly, the Company is reiterating its previously issued fourth quarter guidance range of approximately $0.94 to $0.96 per diluted share.
