The proxy statement filed on December 12, 2009, for the annual meeting of stockholders of Family Dollar Stores, Inc. held on January 21, 2010, contained certain incorrect dates in the “Stockholders Proposals” section which explains certain deadlines for stockholder action at the next annual stockholders meeting in January 2011.
The following sentence is being corrected: “Additionally, our Bylaws require that any stockholder who intends to make a nomination or bring any other matter before the 2011 Annual Meeting must deliver notice of such intent to us not earlier than September 23, 2010, nor later than October 23, 2010.”
