AÉROPOSTALE REPORTS JULY SALES RESULTS;
SAME STORE SALES INCREASE 1%; UPDATES SECOND QUARTER GUIDANCE


New York, New York – August 5, 2010 - Aéropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that total net sales for the four-week period ended July 31, 2010 increased 6% to $166.7 million compared to $156.8 million for the four-week period ended August 1, 2009. The Company’s same store sales increased 1% for the month, compared to a same store sales increase of 6% in the year ago period.

For the second quarter of fiscal 2010, total net sales increased 9% to $495.1 million, from $453.0 million in the year ago period. Same store sales for the second quarter increased 4%, compared to a same store sales increase of 12% last year.  Year to date, total net sales have increased 11% to $958.7 million, from $861.0 million in the year ago period. Year to date, same store sales have increased 5%, compared to a same store sales increase of 11% last year.

Second Quarter Guidance:
The Company now expects net earnings of $0.45 to $0.46 per share, versus $0.38 per share last year, due primarily to the challenging retail environment, in addition to a change in consumer shopping behaviors. This updated guidance is within its previously issued guidance of $0.45 to $0.48 per share.
